What happens
The machine temporarily changes operation for frost removal or operates within its actual low-ambient capacity envelope.
Typical symptoms
A brief indoor airflow pause or reduced heat during cold conditions without a persistent fault.
Checks that distinguish this cause
Compare the observed duration, weather and system demand with the model sequence and capacity data. Establish whether normal heating resumes and whether the building demand exceeds available output.
What can look similar
A faulty sensor, recurring protection or a leak can also reduce heat and must not be dismissed as normal winter behavior.
Repair direction
Explain confirmed normal operation, or address a proven design or backup-heat requirement; replace no component without evidence.
Verify the repair
Verify recovery and useful heat output at documented outdoor conditions.
Equipment-specific limits
Defrost sequence, fan delays, heaters and low-ambient limits are model-specific. Steam, temporary indoor fan pause or outdoor frost can be normal; persistent ice and repeated faults need evidence.
